In an interest of showing that I do read the comments about homework when I start the sign ups for homework captains, today is a fun homework to get to know everybody a little bit. (Something fun is definitely in order, since KD's gone and upped the exercise on us for Week 2 homework. Wink)

So, I'm stealing a few lines of a questionaire that I have on my live journal. What is your:

1. Favorite "old school" toy or game.
2. Favorite thing from the 70s.
3. Favorite movie line.
4. Favorite food (calories don't count here).
5. 2nd favorite hobby.

Everybody sing, now..."getting to know you, getting to know all about you..." (bonus points to the first person to correctly identify the movie and singer.)

Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.

Better late than never, here are my picks:

1. Favorite "old school" toy or game. Monopoly and Connect 4
2. Favorite thing from the 70s. Playing hide and seek outside around the block with all the kids
3. Favorite movie line. I suck at quoting movie lines. Pretty much anything from Gross Point Blank.
4. Favorite food (calories don't count here).Poutine, it has to be made with real curd cheese. If I do not hear the squeek when I bit into it it just is not the same.
5. 2nd favorite hobby. cooking would be #1, let's see....#2 would be reading, especially cookbooks. Smiler

It has been great learning more about all of you.

Enjoy every minute!

Jennifer

I don't know why it wouldn't be PC. Barbie is still big today and lots of adults collect them.
I just wish I had kept mine. It was one of the originals.

The reason some may consider Barbie's un-PC is that some people think that her unnatural proportions lead young girls into having unrealistic ideals of how women's bodies should look. (Kind of like super models.) They think it feeds into that whole unrealistic idea many of us have of how we should look, and then it leads to eating disorders...

I had no idea that anyone else knew this movie!!!!!!!!! I just got it on dvd a few weeks ago. I hadn't seen it in at least 10 years.

Way to go Linda!!! But Bee was also right that it was the King and I.

QUOTE I take my hat off to you! I haven't solved one yet. I get down to two numbers and they don't fit in either of the two spaces available.[/QUOTE]

I started out doing the easy ones on: http://www.miniclip.com/sudoku/sudoku.htm

That helped me get into the swing of things with how to problem solve through the puzzles and then I moved on to the medium and hard ones.

Bwahaha! Love that one too. That was me who posted about Office Space - one of my all-time fave flicks.

LOADS of quotes here:

This morning I had my headphones on and listened to these, looking for a quote. I had a hard time NOT laughing outloud.

1. Favorite "old school" toy or game.
I love board games in general, but probably Scrabble.
2. Favorite thing from the 70s.
Would it be cheating to say DH? Since he was born then.
3. Favorite movie line. "You people make my a** twitch" from French Kiss, or a whole slew of lines from Monty Python Movies.
4. Favorite food (calories don't count here).
Oh gosh, that is hard, probably Cheesecake for a dessert, or Indian Butter Chicken for actual "food".
5. 2nd favorite hobby. Scuba diving. It might be my first, but I can't afford to do it often, so I'll say second.

3. Favorite movie line.

Here I have to answer whichever doesn't qualify as #1 of reading or music

Getting to Know you is from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I. Yes it was sung by the character Anna Owens. On stage that role was played by Gertrude Lawrence. In the movie it was Deborah Kerr. (I know, I know. Everybody hates a wise Alice!)

Judy (BrenauMom): I had to fight my son to get to do the Sudoku puzzles in the English newspapers when we were in England last summer. I am sooooo glad to see them make an appearance here now. I think they are very easy for the most part once you realize a couple of strategies.

Laura, this was fun!
