Just for fun, change something. Tell yourself it's an experiment. Just for today do something differently and feel how it feels. You will not know what you will learn from trying, even if you have predictions. It is so easy to set up expectations when you are looking out on the future and decide that you already know what will happen. In my recent experience, I have had to admit that I'm never 100% right when I decide ahead of time that my assumptions are valid. The truth is, we don't do life in a vacuum and there are always extra factors. But, as I heard someone say this week, "No, life isn't fair. But sometimes it isn't fair in your favor, so it all evens out."

Here are a few examples of things to try which are based on recent discussions here this week:
- What would it be like to stop taking extra bites of things and eat today entirely what you planned?
- What would it be like to let go of a plan, like hiking this weekend even though you trained for it and let it matter to yourself?
- What would it be like to weigh yourself daily for a week, when you usually don't?
- What would it be like to count calories instead of ball-parking numbers, just for today?

Well, you get the picture. The point is, change something just for today - dare yourself - knowing that it is safe to try and learn from trying.

Hope you'll report your experiment's findings!

hugs,
Lynne

My experiment went just fine. *phew* I have had a few days now to get accustomed to my decision and feel more sure of myself, so the meanies won't get me down Smiler

Anyone else have findings to report?

Here is mine!

What would it be like to have a glass of water everytime I went into the kitchen to nibble on something.

I have been spending some extra time in the bathroom, but I have had my full 8 glasses today.

Thanks for the inspiration Lynne.

Enjoy every minute!

Jennifer

Goals for April: Exercise 3 times a week. Drink more water everyday.

Long Term Goal: Weigh-in at 180 lbs by my next Birthday. (Sept-13/06)

I did some new stuff at the gym today. I rack pulled for the first time and did a different type of squat with a different bar as well.

It was exciting for me ; )

I changed my exercise plans today. I had to weigh in at 8:00; I had to teach a day long class at the store, so I did have to swim after the class. I usually go in the AM....as early as possible. But I found that swimming late has a relaxing affect on me, more than a reffed up feeling in the late afternoon. I will have to try this more often when stress gets to me.

It's never too late to get it right.

Here's mine.

What would it be like to make an unpopular decision and take the crap for it, and still know it is the right decision? (I have to go in to work tonight even though I just resigned and so the poop will surely hit the fan)

Good homework. Here's my experiment:

What would it be like to do the right things for yourself without complaining about it, even silently?

Wow, I've already done today's homework. Instead of my usual oatmeal for breakfast, I had two brownies!!

I'm guessing that's not really what you had in mind.

Based on today's experiment, this is something I should not try again. I feel kind of yucky and also disappointed in myself!

(The oatmeal was already cooked and waiting on the stove. When the rest of the family started in on the brownies I joined right in. I'll save the oatmeal for tomorrow morning)

90 day goal: 4 days of cardio, 3 days of strength training each week.
