Laughter is the best medicine --just watch Patch Adams and you will agree!
Not only does a good laugh release those wonderful chemicals in your body that allow you to feel better, but it is also an awesome abdominal exercise AND it burns calories! Most importantly, it keeps us "light", not take life so seriously, bringing in an element of humility and frivolity to our spirit!
So what gives you a solid belly laugh? how about a marathon giggle?
What was the last thing that made you laugh so hard, you were crying? You were running to the bathroom to pee? you almost lost your lunch?
Do you have a giggle buddy--someone who reduces you to the age of 13 and has you rolling on the floor? Tell us about this person.
What are your fave comedy DVD's (I ask this for a selfish reason--i need to expand my DVD list!)
Do you have a tickle spot that just gets you going? Had a tickle wrestling match recently? Sure beats doing crunches, eh?
so, this weekend, find reasons to laugh it up. Slap that knee. Roll on the floor. Run to the restroom.Bring a nice red blush to your face.
Goals: 1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire. 2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy. 3. One word 2008: courage 4. Eat slow and mindfully.
I haven't had much time to post- mostly read the posts...but I do love sit coms for laughs...esp reruns of Everybody loves Raymond and George Lopez. I have them TIVOd. i have been really liking last comic standing until this last week- i thought it got kind of lame. I have to say...and don't hit me here...i don't 'get' the office??? I don't laugh...I used to work in an office. Maybe I was just a nerdy person that everyone made fun of which is why I don't get it LOL!!!!!
I also get unusually giggly for some grammatical errors--since I edit at work, I see a bunch of them. I immediately "see" the picture in my head of what it would be like if the typo was real.
Some I remember recently: The Jewish Diorama (instead of diaspora...so in my head, instead of Jewish people scattered through the world, it was a bunch of them crammed into a shoebox diorama); pre-empted strikes (instead of pre-emptive...in my head, a bunch of people were angry because their strikes were pre-empted for a presidential speech or something); an illustrated career (instead of illustrative); and Christianites (instead of Christians); religious sex (instead of sect...so in context, "a religious sex in the desert"); dentured servants (instead of indentured).
Challenge Goals: *10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week *Gym time twice a week *Socialize at least once every two weeks.
I love The Office. I will have to rent 40 year old virgin and dodgeball!

I loved the first season of "My Name is Earl." We have a lot of the old "Muppet Show" DVDs and those are always good for a laugh, plus there's the nostalgia factor.
I love watching "Countdown," "The Colbert Report," and "The Daily Show" -- these shows not only help me laugh but keep me up on the news.
Like fbroadie, every now and then something strikes me so funny that I cry from laughing so hard and can't catch my breath. A lot of times it's watching something really dumb and funny like the old "Beavis and Butthead" series. It's a nice release but I can't make it happen, it's always a surprise what sets me off.

America's Funniest Home Videos. Some of the "dumb pets" stuff on Youtube. The complete Pink Panther collection, best enjoyed after a couple of glasses of wine. Shaun the Sheep.
I do have some adult faves too but I forget. Some really inane stuff can be a blast if you're not quite sober...
****************** “The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.”
40 Year-old Virgin made me laugh so hard I nearly fell off the couch. I second D's vote for Dodgeball, and I would also nominate Zoolander.
There is swearing and crude behavior in all of them so if you take offense to that sort of thing then don't bother
I also love Spongebob Squarepants. He never fails to make me laugh especially the episode with the F.U.N song and the one with the Tiny Tim song.
I also amuse myself greatly by making up silly songs at inappropriate times. Some bizarre response to stress perhaps? Ever since college about once every two months or so I will have a hysterical laughing fit for no apparent reason. It is usually something fairly dumb that sets it off and I will laugh until I can't breathe for about a half an hour. It's very strange. It is like my body needs it or something. I always feel better afterwards.
I have a friend who made me laugh so hard on Sunday that my asthma acted up. But it was so much fun.
My sister's dogs usually are chock full of entertaining stuff. One is slightly neurotic and usually manages to get himself into all kinds of predicaments. His brother usually sits there and watches with this look on his face that I swear says "doofus" everytime Xerox gets into a predicament.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
"Whose Line is it Anyway" makes me laugh until I cry, every single episode, every single time I watch it. As a rule, I can't watch it before bed because I laugh so hard. It's on ABC Family channel, I think? I just DIE. I'm sure some of the seasons or a "Best Of" DVD are available.
Also, the movie "Dodgeball." Something about people getting hit in the head unexpectedly makes me laugh. I've seen it at least a dozen times, and laugh at the same points every time. And, really, any movie with physical comedy that's good makes me laugh.

The last thing that really made me laugh was a YouTube video in which someone took a real Bush press conference and inserted a fake reporter asking questions. So the reporter is asking ridiculous questions about Bush being obsessed by brain-eating zombies attacking the U.S. but Bush's answers are real answers given during a press conference about terrorism.
The end of the video features an extra bonus snort.
P.S. You can find this video by going to YouTube.com and typing Bush zombies in the search box.
Rest of Summer Goals: 1. Exercise-Cardio: Min. 2-3 walking or DVD cardio workouts per week. 2. Exercise-Weights/Toning: Min. 1 weight plus 1 toning workout per week. 3. Food: Get those veggie servings back up to where they were! 4. Behavior: Start reducing sweets now that the automatic after-meal response is better.
