My friend offered to take me as her guest to her gym for 2 weeks. I have been walking in the early morning and liking it.
I am glad to try this gym and think that the change will be good. I want to take a few classes and spend time in the mornings when my dd is in an arts program.
Glad for the change of pace...

AAACCCKKK!

I'm sorry your gym experience turned out like that. It seemed you were excited to be going.

I feel sorry for the people that really do need guidance and look to a personal trainer, and then think that is what they really should be doing.

So glad that you realize it is the trainer and not you that has the problem. What a terrible way to try to welcome someone to a new gym.

Not all gyms are like that. Mine doesn't have that kind of weigh-in thing, which is good, because I would have been too intimidated to join.

Yikes! So sorry to hear about such a negative experience with the trainer. That guy sounds like a hack!

I also find it really, really annoying/insulting when people assume that one goes to the gym just to lose weight - urgh!

I agree - YUCK! It is these morons who give trainers a bad reputation.

Well, at least you didn't have to pay for his advice this time...

UUURGH>>>
The gym was not what I wanted. Although the workout equipment is good and they offer some good classes, I was met by a trainner who told me that it would be good for me to go on a 3 day "jumpstart" eating only meat and green veggies- as much as I want. I explained that I do not want to loose weight. He said that it would build my muscle mass and that I would be healhtier around 110-115. (I am 5'4" and weight between 126-128- I feel good and think I look fine)
He then suggested that I buy supplements--- sugary bars and shakes to "get me going."

I AM GOING!

Nothing made sense. I was so happy to walk away.

BTW, He suggested a fee of $139.00 to do the 3 day "jumpstart" as I would loose 6 pounds and he would "counsel" me each day.

Just had to vent. I am blown away.
